Early Beginnings in Video Editing and Design I am Sajith Prabhan, a seasoned video editor and graphic designer with over three decades of experience. My journey began in 1990 during the MS-DOS era, exploring creative possibilities with Animator Pro. Working with VHS cassettes, I crafted advertisement animations and edited wedding videos using Panasonic camcorders, video mixers, and National video recorders. With the emergence of Microsoft Windows, I transitioned to desktop publishing, utilizing CorelDRAW and PageMaker. As Adobe Photoshop gained prominence in the mid-’90s, my focus shifted towards design, laying the foundation for my expertise in digital media and visual storytelling.

The Shift to Nonlinear Editing By 1997, I integrated Pinnacle video cards and Ginie Plus software to enhance VHS and Betacam editing workflows. The expansion of telephone networks in the early ’90s provided access to new learning opportunities, despite the challenge of slow internet speeds—downloading a single megabyte often took an entire day. By the early 2000s, I embraced nonlinear editing (NLE) as VHS tapes gave way to Mini DV formats. Leveraging industry-standard tools like Pinnacle, Canopus, and Matrox, I refined my skills in professional real-time editing and effects, adapting to the rapidly evolving technology that was transforming video production.

Mastering Advanced Editing Tools Throughout the 2000s, I dedicated seven years to mastering Avid Liquid, enhancing wedding videos with 5.1 surround sound and utilizing broadband internet to access vast digital resources. Transitioning to Adobe Premiere later in the decade, I expanded my expertise with Adobe Audition for audio design, After Effects for motion graphics, and the Adobe Creative Suite to elevate my creative output. These tools enabled me to craft high-quality, visually compelling content, setting new benchmarks in digital editing. My ability to integrate emerging software solutions helped me refine my workflow and deliver professional-grade results.

Embracing New Technologies and Future Growth With the rise of smartphones, I adapted my approach to optimize videos for mobile viewing while honing my expertise in software and hardware installations. In 2010, I transitioned from Android to iOS and from Windows to macOS, broadening my skill set with new operating systems and software solutions. Adopting Final Cut streamlined my workflow, and by 2020, Adobe Creative Cloud became my primary toolset, allowing me to excel in an era of global connectivity. From floppy disks holding mere megabytes to high-speed SSDs storing terabytes, and from sluggish dial-up connections to gigabit speeds, I have continually evolved, embracing innovation in an ever-changing digital landscape.
